Preparation Time

  • Prep time: 15 minutes

  • Cook time: 15 minutes

  • Total time: ~30 minutes

  • Servings: 4 tacos

 Ingredients

For the Smash Tacos

  • 4 small flour tortillas

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)

  • 4 slices American cheese (or cheddar)

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce

  • ½ cup pickles, sliced

  • ½ small red onion, finely diced

For the Big Mac Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard

  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt & pepper to taste

 Instructions

Step 1: Make the Big Mac Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  2. Adjust seasoning to taste and set aside in the fridge to chill.

Step 2: Prepare the Smash Tacos

  1. Lay out the tortillas on a flat surface.

  2. Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions. Press each portion thinly and evenly onto one side of a tortilla (like a beef layer).

  3. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

  4. Place tortilla beef-side down, pressing slightly to smash the beef into the tortilla.

  5. Cook for 3–4 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through.

  6. Flip, then place a slice of cheese on the beef side. Let it melt while the tortilla gets golden and crispy.

Step 3: Assemble

  1. Remove tacos from skillet.

  2. Add shredded lettuce, diced onions, and sliced pickles on top.

  3. Drizzle generously with Big Mac sauce.

  4. Fold and serve immediately.

Tips & Variations

  • Cheese melt hack: Cover tacos with a lid after adding cheese to help it melt faster.

  • Spicy version: Add jalapeños or use spicy pickles.

  • Double-layer tacos: Stack two tortillas with beef in between for extra crunch.

  • Meal prep: Make the sauce ahead—it tastes even better after chilling for a few hours.
